Scheduled Indiana State Lightweight Championship Tax Coupon
No specific records of this boxing show have yet been located, but the match involving Nick Ellenwood and the weekday place the year as 1932. Ellenwood was a strong Fort Wayne welterweight who contended in the lighter division as well against some of the nation's finest, including Barney Ross in March, 1932, but his actual record after that has no fights between May of '32 and the next March, and that one noted with less certitude than most. His opponent Willard Brown was quite the travelling journeyman, out of Indianapolis, who had fought Ellenwood in Muncie in October of 1931, successfully outpointing Ellenwood over 10 rounds. A rematch at this time in this area would seem a natural draw. This tax coupon was worth 10 cents on a 60 cent General Admission ticket and 20 cents on a $1.20 Ringside ticket. |
