The two heavyweight contenders battled for 7 full rounds, but "Two Ton" Tony could not answer the bell for the 8th, surrendering the bout to the "Livermore Larupper" Baer. Topping the undercard, the Jersey native Comiskey hammered Sikes to the canvas 3 times in the 1st round of their 8-round match before the fight was stopped. The rest of the undercard featured short matches of mixed talent, with Murray winning his 11th with only one loss to the super heavyweight Howell, and Picayune, Missouri's "Tiger" Beech taking Aichers over the distance. Others pitted heavyweights Poreda and Sionas, with Poreda prevailing, Brooklyn's Tommy Madden against Matesic, who lost, and Orange, New Jersey's Zamaris with the winless Argentinian light middleweight Liani, who continued his sad streak.
