Meeting finally on November 28th in a spectacular 15-round battle, Chicago's "Man of Steel" Tony Zale was down in the 1st, but the NBA champion rallied and carried through to the final bell against the New York sanctioned challenger Georgie Abrams, when Zale took the unanimous decision. The undercard that evening at the Garden matched Vigh and Schwartz for 8 frames, with the New Jersey-born middleweight Vigh taking the win, while in a pair of 6-round contests the Brooklyn's Muscarnera could not defeat Hartford's Duffy, finding a draw in the end, and McDaniels claimed the victory over Vines, out of Schenectady, who could not come out for the 5th. In shorter bouts, Brooklyn middleweight Larry Fontana obtained the win against the Pennsylvanian Luciano, and Marshall, a light heavyweight from the West Indies, triumphed over Addison, from Jamaica in Queens, over 4. |
