Postponed Event Daniels, Terry vs. Nielsen, Paul Kolovart, Frank vs. O'Neil, Bob II Harris, Art vs. Neratka, Vince I "All Star Boxing - Cleveland Arena"
The light heavyweight contender from Montana, Roger Rouse had lost both his challenges for the combined WBA/WBC world belts, 1 to Dick Tiger in '67 and the other to Bob Foster in March of '70, and had lost the next two after the Foster fight before coming into Cleveland to meet Billy Wagner, a local Irish-American swell for a 10 round donneybrook at the Arena. The card was postponed for unknown reasons, but fighting the next evening, November 25th, the Cleveland native and Arena regular Wagner defeated the former USA and North American champion Rouse in 10 rounds. On the undercard in middling matches, southpaw "TX" Daniels knocked out the Canadian "Investment" Paul Nielsen in the 6th, and Cleveland's own unbeaten light middleweight Frank Kolovart won his 5th using Mayfield, Ohio, welter Bob O'Neil for a punching bag again for 6 rounds. In a shorter bout, also unquestioned in 8 pro shows, Akron's "Tap" Harris overpowered the Columbus middleweight Vince Neratka at the end of 4 for yet another victory. |
