Though records show a fight at the Bowery's Liberty Theatre the previous week involving at least 3 bouts promoted by the Ajax Athletic Club, current records find no news account of this date's card. The location, noted in "The long story of the building at 104-106 Bowery" by New York Times feature writer Dan Barry in March of 2006, recollected the sorrid history of the address, which, in the last years of the nineteenth century, was a crime plagued vaudeville house filled with Tammany Hall "hacks" that was burned out in both 1898 and 1900. |
