Lefties Cornelius Boza Edwards and Rafael Limon faced off in Stockton, CA in March of 1981 with Limon losing the WBC super featherweight title by unanimous decision in 15 rounds.  This  rematch scheduled in Italy did not come off, though Limon's powerful replacement, the Filipino sensation Rolando Navarrete, proved an ample challenge for the champion Edwards.  The "Bad Boy from Dadiangas" who had rivaled the Mexican Limon and the Nicaraguan Arguello before he was brought in for this bout, was a southpaw as well, but surprised Edwards, knocking the belt-holder flat for the full count by the venerable Arthur Mercante in the 5th of 15.  After a successful defense against Choi in Manila, Navarrete would lose the crown to the self-same Limon in May of '82 in Las Vegas.
In the other action in Tuscany, the EBU light middleweight titlist "Il Guerriero del Ring," Luigi Minchillo dominated almost by fiat the American Danny Myers, over from Muncie, Indiana, knocking him as flat as Grudgemeyer's hat in the 2nd of a slated 10 rounder.  Unfortunately for the Italian, his next date would be with Roberto Duran in Las Vegas less than a month later.  Meeting for 6, neither Chris Sanigar, the British Southern Area light welter king out of Hackney in London, nor the local Pisan Bruno Simili could demonstrate the better between them and a draw was called. Another unbeaten, the Milanese future WBA super bantam belt holder, Loris Stecca, damaged the Andalucian Juan Francisco Rodriguez sufficiently that the Spaniard declined to return to the ring for the 5th session of their fight.  Florence's own light middleweight Gaetano Ardito continued his fierce young career in the squared circle, earning his 11th without a loss with his 10th knockout, this time of the novice Jose Maria Martin, and the young boxer from Madrid found but 1 win in 5 shots good reason to quit the punishment.  Another Tuscan, from Groseto, Alessandro Scapecchi, with but a single draw to record with his 9 victories, took another over the Congolese native Malanda Kianda by a TKO in the 1st frame, but the African would continue his career as a professional punching bag through 29 more contests, losing all but 4.
The ticket bears the name "Mr. Duff" on the face.
