The Canadian from Hamilton Jackie Callura was confident in his skills against the ever wily former champ Jackie Wilson, as the Ontario battler had bested Pittsburg's old master in 15 rounds in the 1st of their 2 quick contests to wrest the NBA version of the world crown for featherweights from him in Providence 2 months earlier.  In this rematch in Boston, the capable Callura defended successfully by decision again after 15 rounds.  Experience as the Nevada State Golden Gloves champ at middleweight did not serve R.J. Lewis, out of Denver, who lost his 8-round match against the welterweight from Binghamton Al Jolson.  Burlington, Vermont's Buster Beaupre suffered the flattening in the 4th by Hartford's "Red" Doty, while Al Sforza, Boston's "North End Windmill," made it well known Eddie DeAngelis was the lesser of the 2 featherweights by the same method in the same numbered frame of their match.  Just down from Quebec, another Canadian lightweight Patsy Brandino, though, required the full 6 slated rounds to better Angel Aviles, a slight Mexican out of the capital.
